Serotonin Surge Charities is an all volunteer public benefit 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1999 to raise money for health care related causes. Serotonin is the “good feeling” brain chemical and our mission is to make people feel great about using their time, talents, and wealth to help others in need. We are always looking for newer and better ways to leverage volunteerism and collaboration to make this world a better place to live.

To date we have raised $3.4 million for our recipient organizations through our annual fall golf tournament and springtime food, wine, and fashion festival. In the future, we would like to expand our menu of fundraising events, increase our opportunities for volunteers, and offer internships for people interested in making a positive difference in their communities.

Our founder and CEO is John Chuck, a family physician with The Permanente Medical Group and U.C Davis Foundation Trustee Emeritus. Other members of the board of directors include Clayton Tanaka, Esq., Professor, U.C. Davis School of Law; Brad Crutchfield, Senior Vice-President, Qiagen; William McGowan, CFO Emeritus, U.C. Davis Health System; Tom Nesbitt, Associate Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Technologies and Alliances, U.C. Davis; David Cosca, M.D., Yorba Wines; and Lesli Chuck, Serotonin Surge event coordinator and community volunteer.

What We Support
Safety Net Clinics in the Greater Sacramento Region. Benevolence has been defined as wanting for others and their families the same things that you want for yourself and those you love. To that end, we support clinics that provide high quality health care to people who are underinsured or uninsured. These clinics include the nationally acclaimed UC Davis School of Medicine's student run clinics and numerous others that specialize in caring for the most vulnerable members of our communities. The clinics listed below provide a combined total of 250,000 patient care visits per year to our neighbors who would otherwise go untreated. To date, our organization has supported these clinics with more than $2,500,000. With the ongoing help of our many sponsors, donors, and event guests, we hope to add more clinics to our recipient list.
